We looked at cruises from Florida, cruises from Galveston, TX; All-Inclusives in the Bahamas, Mexico, and Jamaica; a return to Hilton Head Island; the possibility of Branson, MO; and many other options, and we have narrowed it down to two options for the Lockhart - Childs - Wehlmann Amazing Vacation of 2026:
5-Day Royal Caribbean Cruise from Galveston, TX or 5-Day Stay at All-Inclusive Resort in Cancun
Links to both options are below.
At the bottom of the page is a spreadsheet detailing costs associated with all researched options, but bottom line is both vacations will cost $5k-6k for each of the families depending on individual options chosen.
We assure you when you consider plane tickets, food for the whole vacation, and activities we pay for on vacation, these are both highly affordable options compared to the others.
Plane tickets are estimates only as they are not available to actually book this far out. Also, as we book, we may adjust rooms and who does what etc., but this gives us a starting place to compare rough estimates.
Wichita Lockharts include Steve and Naomi; Atlanta Lockharts include Jay, Karen, and Brady; Childs include Kim, Bryan, Skyler, and Ashley; and Wehlmanns include Dustin, Mica, Lillie, and Rebecca.
Trip includes 10 adults and 3 Children under 18.
No drink or wifi packages are included on the cruise prices, but otherwise food, lodging, transport, and airfare are all included in the estimated total price.
If there is a cost to the whole group (e.g. rental car or whole house rental) I calculated the costs as split per person versus per family or room, but that can always be adjusted.
For the cruises, we will fly in the day prior to sail, stay one night in a hotel and fly out on the day of arrival.
The Childs would drive to Galveston, TX. The others would fly to Houston and utilize a shuttle service to get to the boat.
If we go with Mexico, most resorts are similarly priced. We are not stuck with THIS SPECIFIC resort, but it was mid-priced and highly reviewed with a lot of fun activities and good food included.
Also, if we go with Mexico there is some flexibility to stay just for the long holiday weekend for the more cost-conscious, or add a few days at the end for those that want more summer and sand.
